Dinkytown Highway available: iTunes, CD Baby, and more…

The Maeflies new Dinkytown Highway release is an original one-way trip into the depths of Americana music.

maeflies-cd-dinkytownThe Maeflies launch a new blend of Americana rock & roll and Cosmic American Music with their sophomore Purgatory Creek Records release Dinkytown Highway, which includes 11 new original songs plus an interpretation of the Academy Award & Golden Globe winning The Weary Kind, written by T-Bone Burnett and Ryan Bingham. Dinkytown Highway, with a nod to the iconic Minneapolis enclave, takes the rich vocal harmonies and rawboned rock and roll of the Maeflies to new heights.

The band of five hails from Minnesota, the eternal Land of Dylan and Koerner, Ray & Glover. The Maeflies know their way around any iteration of guitar, including pedal steel, electric 12 string, flat top, mandolin, and even banjo. It has been said the signature Maeflies harmonies and driving low-end pay homage to Buffalo Springfield, The Byrds, Minnesota’s own Jayhawks and even Canada’s Kathleen Edwards. All the Flies can sing. The ability to pass around the lead vocal hints at past joys like waiting for the next track with The Band. Mae fronts the band, and you, too, will discover why they’re called the Maeflies.

Although mayflies live a short-and-lusty-life, these Maeflies have been playing their trademark mix of alt-country rock for 8 years, with their 2006 Indie record debut “Goodbye Sometimes”. Eight years is proof-enough they love the craft, and their passion and experience show in this new record. Dinkytown Highway, a route to and from a place both real and imagined. Join them as they share stories of love lost and found, the people met, the places discovered. Where the song on the radio reminds you it is, after all, mostly about the trip.

So have a seat, spin the songs, and meet the Maeflies. Your journey begins.
